Screenshots of Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 9A499 Surface

Jul 30, 2007 - 21 Comments

Mac rumor site ThinkSecret has some screenshots of the latest Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard build.

The interface is becoming increasingly polished, with a mirrored reflective Dock, a transparent menu bar, and rounded corners on many pop-up menu items.

Many Mac users expect a major GUI revision in 10.5, but thus far there have only been slight changes and refinements, keeping a very familiar (although updated) look.

  1. On second thought, don’t come back. It’s become part of my routine to check periodically to see if the posted comments counter has ticked up. It usually takes a week or so for each new comment.

    Sheesh. At least if this had ended gracefully, there would be a screen explaining what’s happening, or a 404 error or something. But now we know that this site is sitting on a drive in some nameless server somewhere… forgotten… alone.

    Where are the ‘daily’ OS X posts?

    Why are “many Mac users” expecting a “major GUI revision”? Is there something lacking in the old GUI? I’m a recent switcher and I’m ecstatically happy with my Mac Pro. Under Windows, I did not know how good computing could be! I have found the Tiger GUI to be excellent. It is practical, yet elegant- it is art! Windows is…a bunch of ugly colored boxes, by comparison. But, aside from the GUI, the OS is simply grand! I didn’t know you could install and remove apps so easily- and *without* restarting the bloody computer EVERY TIME. I can work as programs load or update. Using a Mac has been a dream come true.

    @Reviladigedo

    I think most people who think the UI changes embody Leopard are missing the point. As always, it’s the core architecture that is changing, which helps devs make great apps for the platform. That’s the bigger picture. The UI stuff is admittedly important for gaining new customers.

    thoroughly disappointed in leopard, i don’t even care

    reflective dock, wow that’s great apple
