Its free. It does what it says it will do: it plays DS games.

that being said, it does what it says pretty slow. i tried SoulSilver and the ensuing lag was so harsh it crashed the emulator. based on the comments above it’s apparently the emulator’s fault.

this isn’t a complaint, per say, rather a warning to anyone who plans to play something that might have anything mediocre or above graphics.

It’s 2013 now and DeSMuME (0.9.8) seems to work fine.

My MacBook 13″ screen is still too small for a full 2x vertical layout; I wish the emulator let us detach the windows and put them side by side or even slightly overlaying each other.

using this to play pokemon soulsilver, any lag it gives me fine considering that the wineskin wrapped nocash can’t run it without using action replay.

This isn’t the best nds mac emulator; someone made a wineskin wrapper on No$GBA, which is far more advanced than DeSMuMe. The ONLY advantage with DeSMuMe is that it can support wifi with some additional work, but it is so slow that you might as well buy a ds. No$GBA does have some errors, but it can run DS games at 200% speed, while DeSMuMe struggles to run games at 20% speed.

I have problems as well when I click the top screen by mistake, I play the New Super Mario Brothers on it but the only thing I don’t like is how slow the game runs. On the other hand its free, easy to use and of course free so when it comes to free I take what I can get. I would like to see someone make a better DS emulator for the Mac but for now this will do.

If Desmume is the best nds emulator available for mac, then I’m afraid to see the others available on the net. I get the feeling that I might be flamed for voicing my opinion here, but this emulator truly is terrible. It locks up before I can even get to the home menu, most of the time. And after that, it refuses to close. I’ve never had problems running anything with my computer, this is the first to caus them, and it’s a damn emulator. I highly doubt that these problems are due to my Macintosh… Well, looks like I have to either scope the net for an alternative or actually get around to buying the game I want. The only reason I’d downloaded an emulator was to use a wacom with the particular game…
Sigh…
