I loaded new IOS 5 for IPhone and i got the similar error in connecting the i Tunes. Reason was my SIM was PIN locked. When inserted unlocked valid SIM the error went away. Hope it helps the users. But the strange thing was that when I was using my computer (windows 7) and my phone wasn't even plugged in, the same error message kept on showing up!
