This has gotten off topic and I am moderating comments with what may include bad advice.

The bottom line: each state has different tax laws, know your local tax laws regarding online purchases and do the right thing.

This is old news, the online shopping loophole has been around as long as the internet. All online retailers behave this way, if there is a physical presence in the state they will tax, otherwise they leave it up to the consumer.

Outside of a few states, Amazon does not charge sales tax for online purchases. It is up to the consumer to report these online transactions.

Um, stuff you buy on Amazon is not tax free. If you fail to report it and pay the taxes yourself, you are committing tax fraud, which I wouldn’t go advertising around.
