Maybe there’s something about “Back to the Future” because of the 25th anniversary. I don’t think Michael J. Fox will introduce a new iMac Touch, but the name of the event and the timing is good.

I’m not sure about the “Lion” stuff…
Lions are lazy, always look sort of scabby and let the lionesses do all the work. They hardly even fight. Are we expecting a slow, lazy OS where all the work is done on an iPad or something?

If Microsoft was the one using a feline codename for Windows, then “Garfield” would be appropriate for how bloated it is.

Perhaps the 3D metaphor like side walls and back wall on the desktop for drag and drop operations but 3D per se yet. Meaning, visual 3D viewing.

everyone is failing to miss the other obvious cue here: the 3d logo rotating out of the surface, this is clearly a hint at a 3d gui where apple has had numerous patents

Considering Apple’s close ties to Disney through Steve Jobs, I think we’ll see a Lion King theme: Mac OS X Lion King. Apple will replace the classic Mac boot chime sound with the “akuna matata” song and instead of a mouse we’ll all get little stuffed touch sensitive lions to use as a pointing device.

I’ve got $100 riding on this, don’t let me down Jobs!
