Hi I am really struggling to unlock and jailbreak my iphone 3g, which is on 4.2.1 filmware and 05.15.04 baseband. I have downloaded, redsn0w 0.9.6b5 and ipad 3.2.2 filware and iphone 4.2.1 filmware. My issue is when i run redsnow, i don't get an option to install ipad baseband. Do you have to be on the latest itunes? I'm not sure what I am doing wrong, do I need a higher redsnow file? Pls could someone help me and provide me with a link if possible, as I have been going round and round and feel somewhat dizzy :)

Iphone 3G, version 4.2.1 Firmware 5.15.04.

To start, I want to "jailbreak" the device and maybe unlock it later.

Which is the adequate software version for me?
Same question for "unlock".

For jailbreaking the device is it a need for installing Firmware 6.15.0?

this will not work, it only works for 3.1.3, 3.2, 3.2.2, 4.0 and 4.0.1. to jailbreak ios 4.1 you (not you specifically but everyone in general) need will either need to use greenpois0n or limera1n. I highly suggest using limera1n because greenpois0n has been updated meaning if you wanted to get it you would need to search the net for an old version. so ye just get limera1n for ios 4.1, its a jailbreak the doesn't need to use a ipsw so you don't have to download one and its pretty much one click except that you need to put you idevice into dfu mode but the limera1n will take you through that.
