Both good points. The iPhone 4 has 512MB of RAM is very responsive. Apple keeps SUCH tight control over its apps (for better or worse) that they can ensure that apps are written to manage memory efficiently.

That being said, perception has always been at least as important as reality. If someone sees 1GB on one tablet and 512MB on another, it could certainly influence them. However, I think the name iPad far overpowers this discrepancy.

the user experience is what will matter more, if developers can work with 512MB RAM and everything is snappy, nobody will care

It has 1/2 the ram as the competition? Apple seems to be playing a dangerous game but doing that. The competition will exploit it in marketing.

I read a few of the full reviews and didn’t find any of them that informative, I got more from watching the promo vids from Apple.

Regardless, I’m getting one on Friday.
