Is this iPhone 5? Pictures of alleged iPhone with larger screen leak out of China

iPhone 5 display possibly leaked

Are these pictures of the next-gen iPhone 5? Images have surfaced on Chinese website MIC Gadget that show what appears to be a white iPhone with a larger screen. The side-by-side image above shows a traditional iPhone 4 display on the left, and on the right is a mystery iPhone display piece with a larger screen area, which could be iPhone 5 (or a fake, of course).

MICGadget says the following about the images, but doesn’t specify where they came from:

Man, we don’t know if this is real, but at least we can see that it has a larger display and edge-to-edge glass. Maybe it’s a mockup, but we are sure that it’s not an iPhone 4.

The similarities with iPhone 4 are obvious, which corresponds with recent rumors that iPhone 5 will share the design of iPhone 4 and feature mostly internal hardware upgrades.

Another image shows the device apparently turned on:

iPhone 5 leak?

Remember, things like this are easy to photoshop and fake, so don’t be too convinced yet. Also, the Chinese grey market is full of masterful counterfeits, so it could be a fake iPhone running a themed version of Android, or anything else for that matter. Chances are if someone truly has their hands on an iPhone 5 (or iPhone 4S or whatever it’s going to be called) we’ll see videos surface of the device in action, similar to what we saw with the white iPhone running Expose on an unreleased device and iOS version.

As usual with unannounced Apple products, there is no timeline for iPhone 5 to be released. Most analysts predict the device to make an appearance sometime in the Fall of 2011, possibly in September.

Horrible. But wouldn’t be dissapointed! X

Fits most of the rumors, could be legit. I like the iPhone 4 look, I wouldn’t be disappointed if it stuck with the general design but got iPad 2 internals, it would be a kickarse phone.

I am suspicious, the image is very grainy which makes no sense when everyone has high-res cameras.

My 2 cents is that it’s a fake running Android.
