Great setup but other than minimalism aspect I do not see why to replace Mac Pro with iMac. Just opinion.

Nice setup, but a Drobo?!? Ahhh! Kill it! Get rid of it! It hurts my eyes!

Best way to ruin a good Mac setup -> plug in a Drobo.

Yes, I personally think it's silly to replace a Mac Pro with an iMac, no matter how powerful the iMac can be. Benchmarks is not everything, you know. For a true professional it's indispensable to be able to swap hard drives and GPUs in a second, or to have a well cooled tower that can work for months without shutting down, or 12TB of storage, to choose a display you like the best, and last but not the least to have one piece of equipment not assembled in China....

Those are all the benefits of a Mac Pro. iMac is a fashionable gadget designed for home users who would never choose a Mac Pro in the first place, let alone replace it with an iMac. Change (or a paradigm shift) will happen inevitably, but not in the next 5 or 6 years.

BTW anyone heard of the latest lame trick apple pulled on it's customers? Proprietary temperature sensor and SATA conector in the latest iMacs. Tell me now how silly is to replace a Mac Pro for an iMac?
