Still reasons to jailbreak:

- Free Tethering (why pay extra to use the same bandwidth we're already paying for-- it's not like they give us an extra 2gb for the tether, you're just paying for a feature thats already there)

- My3G (facetime over 3G)
- SBSettings (quick menu to enable/disable wifi, bluetooth, etc)

- NES/SuperNES emulators that let you pair a WiiMote via bluetooth-- friggen awesome! Mostly for showing off, LoL. I'm more into angry birds myself, but my kids love it though.

There are definately fewer reasons to jailbreak, but free tethering and 3g facetime are the ones that make up my mind. Actually, if I could enable tethering without paying for it, I might actually pass on the 3g facetime, but then again, maybe not.

Everyone calls the next iPhone the iPhone 5 (or 4s). I happen to think it will be the iPhone 4G. Maybe LTE, maybe just HSPA+ (TMobile Merger), but I have a feeling tethering and facetime will be allowed by default over the 4G network. If they do still charge for tethering I don't think AT&T will drop it any lower than $10-- just going off past experience.

FWIW, limera1n is a bootrom exploit, which means new hardware is required to close the hole. It is still a tethered JB without a userland exploit, which is what Apple can close, but Apple can't kill the JB until the iPhone 5 comes out (witness the iPad 2).

Wow that was fast. It surprises me that nobody has figured out how to jailbreak iPad 2 hardware that Apple has clearly spent a lot of time protecting, but Apple hasn't bothered to patch a really old exploit in iOS 5 on all other hardware. Limera1n is from iOS 4 isn't it? Maybe Apple just doesn't care about jailbreaking anymore?
