Wondering how iOS 5 on an iPad 2 goes head to head with a Windows 8 Tablet? This video is a thorough look at the two touch interfaces side-by-side. You can see some of the better Windows 8 features and you can also get excited for iOS 5… but remember that Windows 8 won’t be out until next summer, while iOS 5 will be released very soon

I wonder where iOS and the iPad will be by the time Windows 8 is released? Don’t forget you can always check out Windows 8 for free yourself too if you’re bit by the curiosity bug.

Firstly I don’t have any preference to either Microsoft or Apple. Both devices have their merits.
From what I see here with an unfinished Windows 8 vs the very established Mac O/S is the Windows device is on a whole other level.
What makes me laugh is how adamantly Apple Fans defend their products using language like we do this and they do that.
Can you not see how brain washed you all sound.
Everyone knows Apple need to offer a full O/S to stay in the game, a mobile phone O/S has it’s place and it isn’t on a Tablet anymore.

how can you compare a full-fledged computer OS to a phone OS, which is primarily used to play mini games? Win8 is not a toy OS…

it shouldnt be a surprise that there arent any apple fanboys on here saying “i want a Win8 tablet”, after all it doesnt matter if theres something better and less expensive out there.
~~ if it aint apple, then its crap.

  3. saurabh says:

shut up u all apple fans,Microsoft is the greatest software maker, although MS has to face a lot of critisicm regarding its policies and late awekeness but with windows 8 microsoft revolutionised the concept of tablet as well as operating systems…….

what a scatman … my ears are suffering so much … oh my god …

  5. Mike says:

Windows 8 looks like a nice start, but to me it appears that there are too many gestures. For three swipes, iOS uses 1…

This kind of comment is the sort of Brain Washed Dribble I’ve been talking about.
Please read what you are saying, basically I hear you as saying win8 gives me too many options, I like the simplicity of staying ignorant.

  6. Bill says:

All the people talking about Windows Tablet… first think.
    What happened to Windows phone?

There is no come back for MS, it’s soon over. If you can’t make out from what HP has done, then u r all in wonderland.

For MS it’s only Servers now, that too not long… Bye Bye MS ;)

    • Dongle says:

Oh please, Microsoft is now just servers! You must be out of your mind.
so, in how many years this “not long” is going to happen?
don’t forget that you’re talking about millions and millions of people + industries reliant on Microsoft products.

Nice work M$, Metro looks cool and for some unknown reason – useful. :)

But at the end of the day it is still windows with all the facts that made us all switch to Mac. :)

  8. Costa says:

Microsoft did a great work with Windows 8, I never expected such a come-back.

I tried the developers preview and I must say I am very impressed – although it has got to be said that it’s more suited towards tablet systems than PCs, I don’t see how the latter would benefit more from Win8 versus Win7.

    • Neil says:

One thing the video didn’t show that another does is that this is all running on top of what is virtually windows 7. What we saw was only the start menu. So this is a full blown pc operating system and also a tablet OS all in one. I can’t wait to see if apple will run OS X Lion underneath iOS. Weather it would be usable or not is another question.

Whatever Microsoft is trying to do, the whole user interface and feel is must more realistic on Apple products. It just works and is working well! That’s why I prefer Apple products.

I’d like to mention that it is not necessary to tab on the keyboard key to split the keyboard. You just need to slide your fingers up and it will split by itself. That’s a cool difference.

We should really be comparing iOS 6 and iPad 3 with Windows 8 considering it won’t be available for a YEAR!

  12. Scooter says:

I’d rather have the iPad 2 but I will congratulate Microsoft on a very innovative experience.

    • 911 says:

I agree, for various other reasons I’d prefer to own an iPad at the moment, but, Apple is really falling behind as far as design goes. Its very dated, inconsistent, much of the 10″ design is direct from a 3.5″ phone, designed 5 years ago.. In comparison, this windows 8 device feels very modern, fresh, truly designed for the larger screen form. I can’t see it coming any time soon but I really wish Apple would deliver a major redesign to iOS.
