iOS Battery Life

The iOS 5.0.1 update apparently didn’t resolve every battery issue after all, and some iPhone and iPad users continue to report issues after the update.

The good news is that Apple is aware of the battery issues, and has provided AllThingsD with the following statement:

“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”

If you continue to have battery life problems with the iPhone or iOS 5 in general, check out these tips to help for the time being, and we’ll keep you posted with any additional updates from Apple.

I recently updated my 3Gs iPhone with the newest iOS 5.0.1
I have always noticed I had a long battery life. Most of the day it would be on standby and if I didn’t use the phone the battery life would still be at 95%. The day after the I updated the OS by mind morning it went down to 35% and I hadn’t even used my phone yet. In fact the only time it drain that know is when I have used it heavily all day (texting with photos, checking email, etc.) What is Apple doing about this?

    Drained my battery like hell

iPod app doesn’t work after update. music doesn’t play after hitting p,ay button.

Installed the update when it came out, on an iPhone 4, and the battery usage was obviously worst. Apple has released a dud here.

However late last night I was checking configuration an found that Bluetooth was turned on. This was a big surprise as I always have it turned off. So turned off Bluetooth which at the moment appears to significantly improve battery lifetIme.

The obvious suggestion here is check your configuration closely.

As is mine. It was perfectly fine with iOS 5. In the last 20min it went from 9% to 4%…and I wasn’t doing anything. I even charged it mid-day in the car, have barely used it all day, and it won’t even last. Any way to go back to 5.0.0?
