If Apple does abandon the Pro market, the pro's will have to move over to PC. I'd rather cut off both arms than own a PC!

Apple hasn't ditched anyone with the Mac Pro. The Xeon release cycle is 18 months, and Apple release a new Mac Pro whenever there's a new Xeon.

And even a year after the last refresh, Mac Pro still kicks any iMac off the table.

Hate to say it but yes I think so. Apple ditched the Mac Pro in favor of the iMac, and they left professionals behind with Final Cut X. The MacBook Pro will turn into the MacBook Air, maybe with the 17" model sticking around for 'pro' users, but Apple is 100% a consumer level company now with little interest in the professional marketplace. Their old bread and butter of pro users was eaten up by the hefty profit margins favored on the lower level components in iOS and average user Macs.

I'd be interested only if they put a hardwired gigabit port in the thing. And no, I don't want a gigabit dongle as I already have enough crap to put in the bag.

I'll only buy when it's a 17" in the Air form factor. Except with a standard 2.5" HDD. I'd rather just put the one I have into the new computer and save some money.
