Lost the ability to downgrade firmware and lacking information on errors. Yet another dumbed-down backward step I'm afraid!

Settle down. Yes the Mac is being dumbed down, but the core is still there. It's at least 4-5 years out before Mac and iOS join forces into a unified OS, and at that point there will be much more to the ecosystem than the currently inept and woefully consumption orientated iOS.

The iOSification of the Mac continues. Harder to find detailed information, no meaningful progress bars, dumbed down UX, not a fan personally.

The good news is an update to the old version came out today too http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
