Also the enhanced N-draft wifi is a must. More important than most other gismos & gimmicks. The reason that a 2-level N-draft wifi is important – that of having 2,4GHz as well as a 5GHz aerial in the unit, as opposed to a 2,4GHz only N-grade wifi – is due largely to many people having cordless landline home ‘phones.

These cordless digital fixed-line house telephones pulse at 2,4GHz and there is obvious clash or conflict potentiality. In fact several wireless devices & items use this frequency – so the inclusion of 5GHz capability is the berries, very forward thinking, & is has auto-switching. More items will be coming through with wifi,
an increase in printers, house (internet) radios, & new TVs will likely have wifi.
The new Apple dual band N-protocol is going into the incoming (3Q 2012) iPod Touch (5Gen) too i am sure, which will have the iPhone 4S’s processor.

A 12Mp camera is a waste of comment TBH. It not worthy even of the wear on your keyboard keys. The size of the pixels, the light entering the lens, the speed of the shutter are far more important than ’12 MP camera’ sensor. A 6 Mp camera can take a far superior picture than a 12 or 14, Many 6 or 7 Mp cameras have much bigger pixels. The higher pixel number has no bearing on picture quality. Lens & light make a quality image. A faster shutter is a must over your 12 MP. Far more important. If it WAS 12MP, would you want it to be 15 megapixel.?

Optical zoom? Is that a joke.? That would require a compound lens, which would require a 2 or 3 zoom housing to slide out of the ‘phone, making it much more heavy. The mechanism alone would be the weight of the 112Gr camera as a minimum. An opticam zoom sticking out the slab-form ‘phone would look ridiculous, and it will have a digital zoom – there are apps that can enhance the digital zoom under the ‘photography’ category. The on-board digital zoom should be sufficient.

It does have stereo speakers, & how do you know it doesn’t have stereo recording.? There is 2 microphones on the device for noise cancellation. (superior call quality during voice calls)

Don’t keep hoping – buy a new or 2nd hand 12Mp camera and put it in the other pocket from the new iPhone.
How do you know you need all the ‘hoping’ things you mention, If you have never used them.? If you have, you should be telling us.

BTW my 3-year old SonyEricsson Satio has a 12 MP sensor, a xenon and an LED flash, and a sliding cover to keep the lens, light meter and flashes clean. Because you are right, when the lens has a layer of crud on it even an 8 MP sensor is an overkill. :p

This is not based on ARM 9 design or the A15, Apple have designed it from the ground up and optimised it for speed and power requirements

You should not go by mhz to judge cpu speed its all about the design and architecture of it

Think about how many leaps and bounds faster a Core i7 at 1.8GHz is than a Pentium 4 at 3GHz. Technically the clock speed is almost 50% less, but the Core i7 is about 5x faster. Intel just made a better engineered chip with the Core i7.
