Saturday Night Live iPhone 5 Skit Puts Ridiculous Complaints Into Perspective

SNL iPhone 5 kit

Saturday Night Live weighed in on the ridiculous nature of some of the iPhone 5 complaints this past weekend with an amusing skit that spoofs whiny tech journalists and their complaints with the Chinese factory workers who build the iPhone itself. It’s pretty funny and puts the outrageous complaints into some proper perspective, ranging from the Maps complaints to scratching issues, and just about everything in between, you’ll certainly get a laugh or two if you’ve been following some of the truly stupid controversy created by some tech press.

Some choice quotes: “everytime I point it straight at the sun there’s a very slight purplish hue in my photos!” and “it’s just too thin and light”, watch the video embedded below for the full segment, or check it out on Hulu:

I like how all of you anti-American idiots are speaking English to eachother lol….you’re a bunch of dumbasses. Where are you morons from anyway?

    • Nyum says:

Yep, because that is the only place with english as the 1st language. Also it would be much more difficult for us to shame this blockade if we were to speak chinese.

    • Emre says:

I, the moron, am from Turkey. And this is what I have to say:
The internet was invented despite and against people like Shawn.

    • Hans says:

While you sound like a dumb ass for declaring anti-American idiots for speaking English (I guess England don’t count?), the video doesn’t speak just for Americans. There are plenty of Europeans that have the same attitudes and opinions as those that are being parodied in the skit.

  2. Kr00 says:

There is very little point writing about this if everybody else who live on the planet, cannot see it. Enjoy your little US bubble, the rest of us out here have much more important things to do.

    • Jacob says:

Well said. I suspect at some point in time the ride will turn and no one will care any more that the US cuts itself off from the rest of the world (stuff you so to speak).

I used to have this idea that I shouldn’t hate on Americans since it’s the corporations that behave like this, but ultimately US corporations are staffed and run by Americans trained in America schools and colleges, regulated by American governments legitimised by American votes.

    • Hans says:

Way to generalize everybody neatly into your US package.

  3. Jacob says:

Not trying to troll, it’s just annoying there’s the Internet for Americans and the Internet for everyone else.

  4. Jacob says:

Blocked there and on YouTube. You Americans need to learn the world doesn’t revolve around you. So sick and tired of American companies (aka Americans) thinking hey are more special or entitled than everyone else.

  5. Obviously says:

    Perspective???

This makes omnipotent Apple look much worse than any complaining customers. “Migrant workers”

  6. Saeed says:

I Cant See That EitHer Dear Duncan :(((

  7. Saeed says:

i Cant See This Video :((

  8. John says:

Hilarious video. Wish that all the crybabies about the maps and scratches would be forced to watch this for 48 hours straight a.l.a the movie A Clockwork Orange.

    • Lasse says:

Yeah, the movie is quite funny. But declaring all of us who used to use the maps app on daily basis for crybabies may be a bit to harsh.
I can’t use it anymore; no public transport option any more and navigating with it in car is ridiculous (it certainly hasn’t heard of any of the streets I used to navigate).

I can use it for fun on the train but not as a working tool anymore.

      • Petar Popov says:

I apologize in advance, if the following will come out too offending for someone, BUT there is information for the public transportation everywhere in almost every country. but that is not the real problem here.

The people got too lazy in the recent years, that they expect that all the information they need will be in their pockets. Well, I have news – there are people in the world that are being productive without iPhone.

        So get real please.

        • Albert Ross says:

“The people got too lazy in the recent years, that they expect that all the information they need will be in their pockets. Well, I have news – there are people in the world that are being productive without iPhone.”

Great point. Let’s never buy another iPhone.

      • Hans says:

I guess you didn’t really watch the video. You can go to maps.google.com in your web browser…
