iPad Pro 12.9" Screen coming in 2015

Apple will release a larger iPad with a 12.9″ screen in early 2015, according to a new report from Bloomberg.

Apple Inc.’s suppliers are preparing to manufacture the company’s largest-ever iPad, with production scheduled to commence by the first quarter of next year, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The new iPad will have a screen measuring 12.9 inches diagonally, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the details aren’t public. “

A 12.9″ display would be considerably bigger than what exists on current iPad models, the iPad Air has a 9.7″ display, which is the same size that debuted on the original iPad, while the iPad Mini has a 7.9″ display. Other details on the 12.9″ device are scarce, but there have long been whispers and rumors of a larger screened “iPad Pro” model.

The Bloomberg report expects the larger screen iPad model to be popular with the enterprise market, but one can imagine that creatives would also find the larger screened device to be appealing.

Separately, the Bloomberg report reiterates earlier rumors that the existing iPad lineup will be refreshed soon, in time for the holiday shopping season. Bloomberg also reaffirms the September 9 launch date of both upcoming bigger screened iPhone 6 models in 4.7″ and 5.5″ offerings.

I am absolutely looking forward to a bigger iPad. I have been using them since the first release and have used all in between. You bet I’m psyched for this!

This will be great and I believed Larger iPad display will benefited those who use iPad for works and business.

I can’t wait to have one.

  3. Afzaal says:

First tablets started going towards smaller screen sizes and now to a big one. The handy concept of a tablet will vanish if it grows more bigger.

The iPad is pretty cool but I already have one. No reason to upgrade.

    • Tryggvi Edwald says:

I had one too, but Apple made it obsolete, as I couldn’t upgrade the OS, and thus not get new updates and bug fixes for Apps. So I had to buy a new one. You will too.
What the format will be, may be limited by your intended use and your budget. I got myself a iPad mini this time, and regret it; the screen is a tad too small.
I can’t imagine needing a 13″ iPad, but until I’ve held one in my own hands, I can’t say for sure.

I absolutely would use a larger iPad. I spend a significant part of my day utilizing my current iPad Air and my eyes would welcome a larger screen. If they begin changing iOS to use a more multitask friendly interface, a larger screen could be advantageous. I currently find doing any real number crunching in Excel, etc still much too tedious on a tablet, but think more screen real estate could help there. I am still in hopes that iOS and OSX merge features a bit. It would be nice to have a tablet that is more full featured and/or touchscreen abilities within OSX.

  6. James says:

My iPad is my least used device but a 12.9 inch iPad would become my most used Apple device. The sooner it comes, the better.
There simply isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ solution and Apple have learnt that with regards to iPhone.
It might not suit you Joseph but there are millions it will suit.

I use my iPad to read articles in bed and the couch and scan Twitter. It’s my least used Apple device, hard to imagine a bigger version making any difference in usage.
