It has been a little while since we’ve posted a featured Mac setup, but we’re back at it again with this weeks featured workstation. This time we’re going to share the desk setup of Richard R., who uses OS X, iOS, and Ubuntu Linux to run and operate his own IT consulting company out of Dallas Texas. Let’s jump right in and learn a bit more:

What hardware is included in your Mac setup?

The workstation includes the following:

Tell us a bit about how you use the Mac and PC?

The MacBook Pro is my daily driver and primary work computer.

The Dell workstation functions primarily for monitoring clients servers and performing network maintenance tasks.

What type of wireless keyboard is there for your macbook pro? And is it an apple or windows layout?

  2. Renato says:

    Details ?

  3. Allan says:

Please share the Milk Way wallpaper.

  4. Nice setup. I’m an IT consultant myself, but I can’t defile my desk with an actual Windows PC. Parallels Desktop is my Windows PC. If I’m working from home, I usually have my MacBook Pro late 2013 right next to my Mac mini late 2012.

  5. Damn says:

Obviously it’s a nice desk. Table??? Really?? What else would you want a IT consultant to have on their desk? A table saw?? Stupid comments.

    • Shilo Watts says:

Well, I am an Office consultant, and this is no desk. IT IS A TABLE with his computer gear on it and an out of place lamp.

I also see a glass of water sitting near his laptops, definitely a “no no” where I come from, but then again I am not an IT consultant.

  6. Clyde Winslow says:

Are you kidding me? This is just a simple table with some computers sitting on. Nothing cool. Nothing unique. Nothing to copy.

All I see is an outlet that is screaming to be lowered.

  7. Shilo Watts says:

And why is that electrical outlet so unusually high on the wall?

I guess the construction codes are different in Texas.

  8. Shilo Watts says:

I can’t see what is so special about this.

Just a table, not even a desk really, with a few laptops, monitors and other things on it.

I think I will take a picture of my gear spread out on a kitchen table, give myself some fancy title and submit my pictures to be featured.

  9. Mike says:

I’d love more details as well. Are you running your own services, in-house? If so which?

  10. Braden says:

Nice setup but where’s the details? I love these Mac setup posts but this one is unusually brief… no details about apps or what hardware specs are in the Ubuntu PC? Is it OS X Yosemite?

Maybe Richard can give us more info in the comments about how he uses his Mac setup and why he chose this setup. I like the richly detailed interview style pieces, it’s interesting to know why people chose something over something else, and how they work.
