Users who sync their iPhones, iPads, and iPods to a Windows machine will find that a new update to iTunes is available to improve the experience. The update is versioned as iTunes 12.1.1. Mac users will continue to find that iTunes 12.1 remains the newest version available for OS X.

The small iTunes update appears fairly non eventful, 9to5mac offers some details about the minor point release as follows: “According to the release notes, iTunes 12.1.1 addresses an issue that caused audio playback to glitch while also improving syncing between Outlook and iPhones and iPads. Apple also says the update “improves compatibility with screen readers.””

Windows users can find the update available to them in iTunes by relaunching the application, or by manually triggering the software update mechanism within the iTunes app itself.

Additionally, the full iTunes for Windows installer can be downloaded directly from Apple at apple.com/itunes – one must visit the URL from a Windows PC, otherwise the site will redirect the download to the OS X version if visited from a Mac. You can get around that by changing the browsers user agent to a Windows version, if you’re so inclined to download a Windows installer onto a Mac, perhaps for use in a local virtual machine or for distribution on a network.
