iOS 10 Public Beta

Apple has released yet another beta release of iOS 10. The new build arrives as Developer Beta 7 and iOS 10 Public Beta 6, and as usual is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices which support the iOS 10 release.

Users running an existing beta version of iOS can update to the latest iOS 10 beta 7 / public beta 6 release by going to the Settings app and choosing “Software Update”. The Over the Air delta update is rather small and should install quickly.

iOS 10 Public Beta 6

Anyone can choose to install the public beta version of iOS 10, but the experience is buggier and less stable than a typical final release and is thus not recommended for primary devices or novice users. Downgrading from iOS 10 is possible, but most users are better off keeping on the stable iOS 9 release cycle until later in the year when the completed version is widely available for all users.

It is not known when exactly the final version of iOS 10 will be released, but Apple typically goes through a variety of beta builds before pushing the last version to the general public. iOS 10 is scheduled for release sometime this fall, likely alongside the release of new iPhone models.

Whether or not we’ll see a new beta build of macOS Sierra, tvOS, or watchOS today alongside the latest iOS 10 beta remains to be seen. Apple has kept on a fairly reliable schedule with beta system software updates this season, unveiling new builds for each Apple OS concurrently.

How stable is iOS 10 beta 7?

    • betabeta says:

Wait for iOS 10.1 would be my recommendation. Apple releases the true public beta as ‘iOS 10’ to the general public and thats when the real bugs will be found, which is then patched with iOS 10.1.

Same thing applies to all the other OS too.

Will cut and paste work right (this bug has been around since

Will ios10 finally be smart enough to automatically goto the login (accept the terms) screen on free WiFisites automatically like Android?

I am sorry Apple, but if these bugs are not finally addressed, I will buy cheap $200 Android phones in the future. Customers have higher expectectations when they pay $800 for a phone.

A quick question for the moderators: What was so unbecoming in the comment and auto-reply I posted earlier today, that you had to delete both from this comment thread…?

Just so I know and don’t make the same mistake again!

I too am surprised this update came right before the weekend: Apple usually issues updates on a week day, so that their support people can address important issues in a timely fashion…

I’m updating my iPhone 6 right now, and I sure hope this update addresses the problems I’ve repeatedly had with syncing the phone via iTunes, plus its not mounting in Explorer under Windows 10 RS1, of late.

The phone does appear in Explorer under Windows 8.1, though, so it could be a problem with either iOS 10 or Windows 10 RS1, I don’t know…

    • UglyStuff says:

… And apparently it does (fix the not-mounting issue): upon restart, my iPhone is now showing in the This PC Explorer window, same as it did before beta 6.

      Good job, Apple!

Now, if you could fix the inconcistency between the time set before the screen goes to sleep in Settings and the actual time elapsed before it starts to dim, that would be great…

It was more like a surprise from Apple to developers. I was expecting an update at least on Monday, and Apple took a desperate way to release this update. Just installed on my iPhone and couldn’t notice any noticeable changes.

I can’t wait to try this on my Iphone Galaxy Note 7.

  7. Gary says:

I have never seen a beta release on a Friday, odd as far as I can remember anyway.

I’m guessing that a big bug was found or maybe a security hole or something relevant only to iOS 10.

Installing now, can’t imagine much is different on the user facing front.
