MacOS Beta and iOS Beta

Apple has released new beta versions of their operating system suite, including MacOS 10.12.4 beta 4, iOS 10.3 beta 4, and watchOS 3.2 beta 4.

Users enrolled in the beta testing programs can find the latest build available through the Software Update mechanism on their devices. In iOS, this is in the Settings app, and in Mac OS the App Store Updates tab handles beta software updates.

Being relatively minor point releases, the beta updates mostly include bug fixes, security updates, and small feature enhancements. Perhaps the two most notable features being tested in these current beta releases are a “Find My AirPods” feature in iOS 10.3, and a Night Shift mode in MacOS 10.12.4 similar to similar to what is in iOS, which warms the display colors in evening hours making screen usage a bit softer on the eyes. Given the beta nature of software, it’s possible those features will change before the final version is available however.

Apple typically runs through multiple beta releases before unveiling a final version of system software, perhaps suggesting that iOS 10.3 and MacOS 10.12.4 will be available as final versions to the general public sometime in March. There are also rumors of an Apple event occurring in March, which would align well with minor system software updates.
