MacOS Mojave beta

Apple has released macOS Mojave 10.14.1 beta 5 for Mac users participating in the developer beta testing program. Typically the same build arrives as a public beta release soon after.

Separately, Apple released yesterday iOS 12.1 beta 5 alongside watchOS 5.1 beta 5 and tvOS 12.1 beta 5 for users beta testing system software on their iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV.

MacOS Mojave 10.14.1 beta includes support for group FaceTime video chat with up to 32 participants, and also includes support for over 70 new Emoji icons, including red haired people, lettuce, a kangaroo, and a bagel.

Presumably macOS Mojave 10.14.1 will also focus on bug fixes and resolutions to issues that may have been identified with the initial 10.14 release.

Mac users currently running beta versions of MacOS Mojave can find macOS 10.14.1 beta 5 available now from the software update system preference panel. Recall that updating system software in macOS Mojave is achieved through System Preferences rather than the App Store.

While there is no known public release timeline for macOS Mojave 10.14.1 to be finalized and available to the public, Apple is hosting an event on October 30 that is rumored to unveil updated MacBook computers along with updates to the iPad. It’s certainly possible that newly updated hardware will ship with the new system software, or otherwise be released sometime in the coming weeks.
