New iPad 10.2 inch model

Apple has announced an all new entry-level iPad model.

The new hardware includes a variety of improvements, and perhaps most notably a bigger screen. The new iPad model was announced at the days iPhone launch event, along with new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, and Apple Watch Series 5.

Let’s take a moment to review the new iPad:

The new entry level iPad 10.2″ has been launched by Apple, replacing the prior 9.7″ base model.

The new iPad offers nice improvements over the existing entry-level iPad model, including an increase in screen size and viewing angle, and more.

iPad 10.2″ Specs

Some of the technical specs of the new iPad 10.2″ model are as follows:

  • 10.2″ Retina display with wider viewing angle
  • A10 fusion CPU
  • Touch ID
  • Smart Connector support for connecting a Smart Keyboard
  • Apple Pencil support (1st generation)
  • Ships with iPadOS 13

That’s a quick overview of the major new changes to the new iPad, but of course there are other features and improvements as well, along with many new software capabilities unlocked through the powerful new iPadOS.

iPad 10.2″ Pricing

Pricing for the new iPad starts at $329 for 32GB storage, or $429 for 128GB storage.

iPad 10.2″ Pre-Orders and Release Date

Pre-orders for the new iPad start today on Sept 10, and the new iPad ships on September 30.

The entry level iPad is typically one of the best Apple product deals available, and you can often get the devices discounted through Amazon if you wait a bit after it has been released.

Recall that both the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil are sold separately from all iPad models.

The base model iPad is a great choice for many users and for many purposes, even setting up the iPad for use as a desk workstation, which will be all the more powerful now than iPadOS 13 supports the usage of a mouse.

Apple didn’t make a unique video for the new entry level iPad yet, but it is mentioned in their brief recap video of the September 10 2019 event:

The iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini all remain in the iPad lineup as well for users who have different screen size needs or performance requirements.

Article reads: The new iPad offers nice improvements over the existing… including… a faster processor WRONG, it uses the exact same A10 as the 6th Gen. Go to the Apple website and do a side-by-side… both have the same processor and co-processor.
