portal free for mac

It’s official: Steam for Mac is now available to download and there’s a lot of games available through the client, check the list at the bottom of this post for all of them.

To have an even greater incentive to download Steam, Portal is free to download until May 24th. Portal is a unique puzzle game where you teleport yourself around with a portal gun to solve puzzles, it’s kind of hard to explain and it’s best played to understand. So make sure your Mac fits the Steam system requirements and check it out, it’s free, why not?

I have been trying to download portal for about 3 weeks now, and it has about 10mb to go.
But the connection dropped before i finished downloading the first time, and now it keeps trying to download, getting to 22% then dropping out, saying “The steam servers are currently too busy”
    Can anyone help with this?

  2. Saman says:

Portal started to be boring @ demo18 ..

  3. Mithalas says:

The only issue with this is steam needs to be on a volume that is case insensitive…. When you have but one mac it makes it impossible unless I want to tote around a second drive with me.

  4. Austin says:

And just to be clear, Portal is going to be free FOREVER. (As long as you initially download it before the 24th) This means that you can also download and play it on ANY computer that you have linked to your Steam account, Mac or Windows. And having won 70 Game of the Year awards, I’d say anyone who doesn’t download it is going to be missing out severely.

Just keep in mind that there are thousands of people downloading the game from the Valve servers right now, so download speeds are crawling. Just persevere, it’s worth it.

Thanks for the credit :D I am really looking forward to downloading this when I get home, Torchlight and Portal are great games.

BTW what internet service do you have?? 1.5MB/sec?? Holy cow that is fast, my DSL is envious.

No problem, thanks for sending in the list! I haven’t tried Torchlight yet but Portal is fun.

Believe it or not I just have the cheapest local cable internet service and it’s really fast, although I rarely get 1.5mb/sec like that. 300-400k/sec is closer to average.
