Minimalist Mac Setup of a CTO

Another Mac setup is here! This time we’re featuring the beautifully minimalistic setup of Jimmy S., a CTO and system developer. Let’s jump in to learn a bit more:

What hardware makes is included in your Mac setup?

My goal with this setup is to be as minimalistic and clean as possible, enabling me to focus on the creative work.

They keys on the Magic Keyboard are great for programming and the layout matches the laptop, so there is no problem to travel with the laptop and get some programming done on the go without another keymap to worry about.

The Razor mouse combined with the SteelSeries pad gives great accuracy and precision for selecting code etc ;)

The Bose Q25 headphones are a must for office work, keeps all the noise and colleagues out of the picture when focus really matters.

What do you use your Apple gear for?

I work as CTO and system developer for a company in Sweden, Gothenburg.

My Mac setup is primarily used for PHP programming, some administrative work, VOIP calling, and catching up on the latest Apple news.

What apps do you use most often?

Most used apps for development are Sublime Text 3, Tower (git-tower), MAMP PRO.

And of course Mail, Calendar, Safari and Apple Music are always open.

Other daily software include Pages, Numbers, Skype and Chrome / Firefox (for inspecting/troubleshooting code when Safari Inspector isn’t enough).

Do you have any tips or productivity tricks to share?

My tip is for users who got bored of Mail and Safari the past few years (due to lot of bugs etc), is to try them out now, they are working really good. I never thought I would be a 100% Safari user, but now I just love it.

And for coders out there who don’t yet run their code in git/svn or other versioning software (even when working alone), DO IT! Totally worth learning the flow of it.

Want your Mac setup to be featured on OSXDaily? Send it in!

Or maybe you’d rather browse through previously featured Mac workstations? You can do that too.

Indeed it almost looks like a PC! All you need is Windows and you are there!

Totally with you on Mail / Safari. I have used the default OS X apps for years. They have always been incredibly stable for me. Chrome, especially, is a memory whore.

I should get one of those 27″ IPS displays, I have been secretly hoping that Apple would release a series of 21″, 24″, and 27″ Retina desktop Thunderbolt displays though. Maybe they will, maybe they wont.
