macOS and iOS beta testing

Apple has released the fifth beta versions of iOS 12.2 and macOS Mojave 10.14.4 for users enrolled in the beta testing programs. Typically a developer beta rolls out first, soon followed by a public beta of the same build.

Additionally, new beta builds are available for tvOS 12.2 and watchOS 5.2.

iOS 12.2 includes a few new Animoji characters, including a wart hog, owl, giraffe, and shark. A variety of smaller changes and adjustments are worked on in the iOS 12.2 beta as well.

MacOS 10.14.4 beta includes various bug fixes and minor enhancements and changes, and also includes support for dark mode theme detection in Safari, which basically means when Dark Mode is enabled on the Mac and a website supports a dark mode theme, the website will automatically transition to that dark mode theme.

Users enrolled in the various beta testing programs can find the latest beta system software versions available to download now. Anyone can technically enroll in the developer beta testing program if they pay the annual developer fee, whereas the public beta program is free.

In macOS Mojave, eligible users can download macOS 10.14.4 beta 5 from the Software Update preference panel in System Preferences.

In iOS, eligible beta testers can download iOS 12.2 beta 5 from the Software Update section of the Settings app.

watchOS and tvOS betas can be downloaded through their respective Settings apps as well.

It’s not clear when the final version of iOS 12.2 or macOS 10.14.4 will be available, but Apple usually releases several beta versions before a final release. Rumors suggest that Apple may hold an event later in the month of March, which could be considered as a possible timeline for when the final versions will be released to the general public.

Hi, I have had problems with macro 10.14 since the GM was released back in September. The preceding Betas in the summer were perfect. Symptom is a big slow down in file operations to the point there the program they’re being opened in will time out and stop. I have a 2015 MB Pro. and late 2012 Mac mini. Symptoms are identical. When I loaded the Beta for 10.14.4 and ran all of them up to the 10.14.4 Beta 5 everything worked well. Now with 5 we’re back to the sluggish operation when dealing with files. This all seems to be related to iCloud Drive. Once I turn it off things return to what I consider to be normal. Arthur Smith.
