macOS and iOS beta testing

Apple has released iOS 12.3 beta 1 for users enrolled in the beta testing programs for iPhone and iPad system software, along with macOS Mojave 10.14.5 beta 1 for Mac users in the beta testing programs. Beta builds typically roll out to developers first and then later to public beta testers.

Separately, Apple has also released tvOS 12.3 beta 1 for Apple TV beta testers.

iOS 12.3 beta likely focuses on bug fixes and improvements, and the beta update also is likely to include support for some future features and services presented by Apple at their recent celebrity-filled media event.

Users who are currently enrolled in the iOS beta testing program can find iOS 12.3 beta 1 available to download now from the Software Update mechanism on their iPhone or iPad.

MacOS Mojave 10.14.5 beta also likely focuses on bug fixes and improvements, and could also include support for future Apple services.

Mac users participating in the Mac beta testing program can find MacOS 10.14.5 beta 1 available from the Software Update control panel in System Preferences.

Obtaining developer beta builds requires an annual membership fee to participate in the Apple Developer program, whereas public beta builds are available for anyone who is interested in signing up to beta test system software on their devices. Beta system software is less stable and more prone to bugs and other issues than final versions, and thus beta testing is only recommended for advanced users and/or for secondary devices.

Apple has often released beta builds for their entire operating system suite, so it’s conceivable that additional beta builds will soon arrive for watchOS 5.4 sometime in the near future as well.

The most recent stable builds of Apple system software are currently iOS 12.2 for iPhone and iPad, macOS Mojave 10.14.4 for Mac, and tvOS 12.2 for Apple TV. Those software updates were just released to the general public.
