Send & Receive iMessages from Android with AirMessage

AirMessage offers iMessage use for Android users

If you’re an Android user who longs for iMessage on your Android phone, you may already be familiar with Screen Sharing options (that also work with Windows and Linux PC’s), and WeMessage. But another option is available called AirMessage, which brings iMessage sending and receiving to Android as well.

AirMessage works by relaying the iMessages through a Mac. Yes that means a Mac is required for AirMessage to work, but if you’re hungry for sending those beloved blue messages to and from other iPhone users right from Android device, it may just be a solution for the Android users out there who have Macs.

If you’re interested in checking out AirMessage for Android (and you have a Mac), check out the link below to review the setup:

Installation is a multi-step process that on first glance may look reserved for advanced users, as it involves running a relay client on the Mac, setting some Mac configuration options so that the computer doesn’t sleep (so it can relay the imessages to Android), using port forwarding, and using a dynamic DNS service, but if you follow the steps it’s not particularly crazy, and you may feel accomplished as you achieve a geeky achievement of using an Android to send and receive iMessages.

Whether to not using AirMessage is easier or more appropriate than simply using a cross-platform messaging client for your communications, like Signal, Telegram, or WhatsApp, is entirely up to you, and how you communicate, and who you communicate with.

Perhaps one day Apple will introduce a native iMessage app for Android, but for the time being, Android users will continue to need to get creative by using these apps and workarounds – or simply switch to an iPhone.
