How to Add Calendar Events with HomePod

Want to add events to your Calendar through Apple’s HomePod or the HomePod Mini? If you’re completely new to smart speakers, you may have trouble figuring out how to get some simple tasks done, like marking events on your calendar, adding reminders, or anything else really.

Almost all the smart speakers that are available today are powered by a voice assistant, and the HomePod is no exception in that regard. After all, it’s the voice assistant that makes the speakers “smart”. Just like almost every other Apple device, HomePod uses Siri as the built-in voice assistant to get things done. Now, we know that you may be familiar with Siri on iPhone, but some people may not use it as often to get things done on their iPads or Mac, let alone a HomePod.

If you’re one of these users, you’ll need some time getting used to relying more on Siri. In this article, we’ll cover how you can add calendar events with HomePod, and they will sync over to all of your other iCloud equipped devices including the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

How to Add Calendar Events with HomePod

No matter what HomePod model you own and what firmware it’s currently running, the following steps to add calendar events remain the same since we’re just using Siri to get it done. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. To add a new calendar event, simply use the voice command “Hey Siri, add a calendar event.”
  2. Siri will ask you the date and time of your appointment. You’ll need to include it in your next reply. Alternatively, you can skip these questions by saying something like “Hey Siri, add an appointment to my calendar on Wednesday at 11 am.”
  3. If you want to give a name for the event, you can include it in your voice command too. Simply say something like “Hey Siri, add a calendar event named Birthday”.

There you go. You’ve successfully added a calendar event with your HomePod.

Check what’s on your Calendar via HomePod

To check what’s on your calendar at any time, simply ask “Hey Siri, what’s on my calendar?”.

To be more specific about a particular day, you can use the command “Hey Siri, what’s on my calendar for tomorrow”

How to Delete Calendar Events with HomePod

Now that you’ve added calendar events, you may want also to learn how to cancel appointments or remove events that you accidentally created. Let’s check out the necessary steps:

  1. You can start off with “Hey Siri, delete a calendar event” and Siri will list out all your calendar events. You can then choose the event you want to remove.
  2. To delete a specific calendar event, you can use the name of the event in your voice command. For example, “Hey Siri, delete the calendar event birthday.”. When Siri asks for your confirmation, simply reply “Yes” and you’re done.

That’s pretty much all you need to do.

It’s that easy to add and remove calendar events with Siri on the HomePod.

As far as deleting calendar events is concerned, it’s worth noting that Siri can only remove one event at a time. So, if you’re looking to delete several calendars, you will have to do it one by one which takes quite a while.

All the calendar events that you add using Siri on the HomePod will show up in the Calendar app installed on your iPhone, provided you’re the primary user of the HomePod. So, if you want a quicker way to remove multiple calendars, you can learn how to manage calendars on your iPhone and iPad.

We hope you were able to get a hang of using Siri on the HomePod to schedule appointments and other calendar events. Does the HomePod force you to rely on Siri way more often than before?
