Apple has issued the second beta versions of macOS Monterey 12.5, iOS 15.6, and iPadOS 15.6. The second beta builds are available to users enrolled in the various beta testing programs for Apple system software.

There’s no expectation of significant features or changes in these beta releases, and presumably they’ll just be standard bug fix software updates.

Next week, Apple is holding their annual WWDC conference, where macOS 13, iOS 16, and iPadOS 16 are expected to debut, and that’s likely where Apple is putting the majority of their system software development efforts.

Anyone enrolled in the beta testing programs for macOS, iOS, or iPadOS can find the latest beta build available to download now from the Software Update mechanism on their device.

For iPhone and iPad, going to Settings > General > Software Update will find the second beta build available.

For Mac, going to System Preferences > Software Update will find the second beta available to download.

Users enrolled in the beta testing programs can find the new beta to download now from the respective software update mechanisms.

In iOS and iPadOS, that is Settings > General > Software Update

For macOS, that is  > System Preferences > Software Update

Since beta versions usually go through a variety of releases before a final version is available, it’s probable that macOS 12.5, iOS 15.6, and iPadOS 15.6 will come out in the coming weeks.

Beta software is generally reserved for advanced users. The most recent versions of stable system software are currently iOS 15.5, iPadOS 15.5, and macOS Monterey 12.4.

I will be interested in what IOS 16 brings in terms of new features or changes. The iPad OS especially has been a rather disappointment so far if you wanted a more full featured OS more like Mac OS. Trouble is whatever comes to iPad OS has to run on the base model as well as the Pro models. So I don’t expect iPad OS to significantly mature.
