OS X 10.11.2 Beta 4 Released for Testing
Apple has released the fourth beta version of OS X El Capitan 10.11.2 for users participating in the beta testing programs. The new version build arrives as 15C47a and is available now both as a public beta and as a developer beta build.
OS X 10.11.2 appears to focus primarily on under the hood improvements with bug fixes and refinements, with an emphasis on graphics, Mail, wi-fi, Calendar, USB, Notes, Photos, and Spotlight.
Mac users who are running a prior version of OS X 10.11.2 beta can find the latest builds available to download now from the Software Update mechanism through the Mac App Store. Developers can also initiate the download from the Apple Developer Center for OS X. Installing requires a reboot as usual.
There is no known timeline for OS X 10.11.2 to be available to the general public, but typically Apple will run through multiple beta builds before releasing a final version. The most recent final version of OS X El Capitan available is currently OS X 10.11.1.
I wonder when it’s safe to update from Yosemite… maybe takes a while before they update Autocad and other stuff for it. It seems the safe point to upgrade is when they release the next operating system, then all (or most of) the problems have been ironed out. I did a big mistake jumping too early to Yosemite and will not do that again.
I’ve been in the BETA program for both iOS and El Capitan for the last year and generally found them all to be pretty stable (other than photos app). With this build the mail app has turned into garbage. Its catsup CPU and battery life and doesn’t sync correctly. This is the first BETA that I have regretted instilling for the last year.
My entire system went into the hand basket and when I rebooted after installation, I got the dreaded circle with a line through it. I was able to recover using my time machine backup (had to format the main hard drive first). I reinstalled the update (i must be a masochist), but everything worked after that okay

Hi,
I can’t find relevant information on the Internet about the following.
My MacBook Air 2011, with 4 GB RAM and SSD, is running on Mavericks. It’s running smoothly. I’m wondering if installing El Capitan will slow the MBA down and if so, to what extent.
On the Internet there is just a little information about the difference in speed of similar MBA’s running Yosemite and El Capitan, but I can’t find a comparison between Mavericks en El Capitan.
Could someone provide me with information?
I would recommend staying on OS X Mavericks for optimal performance unless you want to get a new Mac soon. El Capitan and Yosemite degrade performance almost universally, particularly on anything without 16GB RAM, Retina display, SSD.
Thanks for your reply :-)
For some reason, 7 months of my Microsoft Outlook emails disappeared after updating to OS X 10.11.2 Beta (15C47a).
I’m hoping to restore them from Time Machine. If not, no more Beta testing!
I would not recommend beta testing unless you’re a developer and like to deal with even more bugs. OS X (and iOS) are buggy enough as the ‘final’ versions, Apple is targeted by deadlines not by quality now.
Yeah !!
2 beta’s ago, after the update, I lost all my Messages history going back 4 plus years. With over 60 people.
It only occurred on one of my four beta devices.
I successfully restored all the Messages on that Mac Mini,
from her time machine backup.
Thank you Apple for time machine
Hai!! Will this resolve repeating BSD that is happening with OSX EL Capiton 10.11.1 ?
Probably not. And the painfully slow downloads from Apple are not something to write home about either. Like 28.8k modem slow. And only Apple. Hey, it’s not a sexy “post PC” device so Apple really doesn’t seem to care much about Mac users.
