AMBER alerts are well intentioned and aim to help locate missing children, but can also be incredibly disruptive and jarring, thus many iPhone and Apple Watch users might want to disable AMBER alerts on their devices. By turning off AMBER alerts, you will avoid the sudden screeching loud alarm sound that is disruptive to whatever you’re doing, whether you’re sleeping, in a meeting, a library, at a performance, or whatever else you’re doing that you might not want to be startled by a screamingly loud alarm sound coming from the government directly to your iPhone or Apple Watch.

One of the most annoying things about AMBER alerts is that they’re not always location precise, sometimes they’re off by hundreds or even thousands of miles (for example, I’ve received an AMBER alert for California while in Seattle… not that useful!). They can also be glaringly loud even if the iPhone or Apple Watch is in silent mode or muted, and so when you combine these factors, many users might want to disable these features.

If you want to have a much less intrusive experience on your iPhone and Apple Watch, you might decide you wish to opt out of AMBER alerts and disable the intrusive alarm on your devices.

Apple has released the first beta version of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and MacOS Sequoia 15.4, for users enrolled in the beta testing programs for Apple system software.

The new beta updates look to add some additional features to Apple Intelligence for all eligible devices, add the polarizing Mail Categories feature from iPhone to iPad, along with various other smaller changes and refinements to the various operating systems, as well as the usual assortment of bug fixes.

Apple Intelligence is an intriguing and powerful set of AI features available on the latest models of Mac, iPhone, and iPad with modern versions of system software. The popular AirTags trackers can be shared with others, and if someone has shared an AirTag with you then you’ll likely want to accept the invitation to track that object, belonging, pets, luggage, package, or whatever else is being tracked.

While you will receive a notification about a shared AirTag, you might have dismissed it or not seen it, in which case you’ll need to manually accept the invitation and add the AirTag to your Find My app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac. This is super easy, as we’ll walk you through.

The Photos app on iPhone received a significant layout redesign in iOS 18 that has left many iPhone users annoyed or frustrated as the new Photos design is not necessarily intuitive or easy to use for everyone. Things have been moved around, albums or features they were using might be missing or harder to access, the order of which photos show up in your camera roll may be different, and it can even be more difficult to locate particular categories of media with new layout too.

Don’t use Apple Intelligence? Don’t care to have Apple Intelligence write your emails for you or instantly create a business plan or any of the handy writing and summary tools? Whether you’re on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, if you recently updated to the latest versions of system software, then you’ll find that Apple Intelligence is enabled by default. That might be great for people who use the Apple Intelligence features, but if you don’t, or don’t care for the AI tools, you might care less for the potential and more for some additional storage on your device.

Many Mac, iPhone, and iPad users are discovering that installing the latest available system software updates of MacOS Sequoia 15.3.1, iOS 18.3.1, and iPadOS 18.3.1 will automatically enable Apple Intelligence, even if the feature has been disabled before.
