Bluetooth on the Mac

Have you ever noticed the Bluetooth menu bar icon on a Mac start flashing or blinking? The blinking Bluetooth icon on the Mac means one thing; the connected Bluetooth device has a low battery.

This is a great little indicator to let you know when it’s time to change the batteries of a Bluetooth device, or to connect it to a power source to charge it up again.

The next time you notice the Bluetooth menubar icon flashing when a connected Bluetooth device has low battery, go ahead and click on the Bluetooth icon, the Bluetooth drop down menu will show you what device is low on battery too. A very nice touch!

There are other ways to check bluetooth battery life as well, including querying the information from the command line if you want to check on Bluetooth battery from Terminal.
