MacOS Catalina beta

Apple has released the first beta version of MacOS Catalina 10.15.1 for beta testers, carrying build 19B68f.

The beta of MacOS 10.15.1 likely focuses on bug fixes and enhancements to the first release of MacOS Catalina 10.15, perhaps addressing some of the reported issues with MacOS Catalina that some users are experiencing. Some new additions to the Photos app and support for a new GPU are also included in the macOS 10.15.1 beta 1 release, apparently alongside new Emoji icons.

For users who are enrolled in the Mac beta testing program, MacOS Catalina 10.15.1 beta 1 can be downloaded now from the Software Update section of System Preferences.

MacOS Catalina introduced some notable changes to the Mac operating system, including the loss of 32-bit application support, Sidecar for using iPad as an external Mac display, revisions and updates to bundled apps like Notes, Reminders, and Photos, the dissolution of iTunes into three separate apps for Podcasts, TV, and Music, new stricter security measures for system software, security alerts for applications ability to access the file system and other OS and hardware features, and more.

Apple usually goes through several beta versions before issuing a final build, suggesting that a final build of MacOS Catalina 10.15.1 is some time away from being launched to the general public.

For some users who are wondering whether or not to update to MacOS Catalina, it can sometimes be helpful to wait for the later point release updates before diving into an entirely new system software release. Accordingly, if you plan on waiting for the final build of MacOS 10.15.1 it may be up to a few months away.

5 days after initial release! Yearly OS release is a terrible idea.

It’s banker logic. Don’t pay engineers to test. Use the people dumb enough to install it as free beta testers

Dumb? No my friend, I updated no less than seven devices this week without a single problem. There are thousands of others who actually use their Apple products the way they were designed to. For them it just works.

Maybe you should have another look at your choice of words.

Yes, but what are the alternatives? MS Windows? Hardly… Difficult environment for a consumer. Cost, privacy, reliability; all are stacked up against the consumer.
