iPhone 4S

iPhone 4S reviews are rolling in, and we’ve gathered a roundup of some of the early ones. Unsurprisingly, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, making note of the new iPhones specs, speed, camera improvements, iOS 5, and of course, Siri.

ThisIsMyNext offers a solid great review with tons of pictures, giving the device 8.6/10 overall:

If you’re an owner of an older iPhone, or someone looking to switch to an iPhone from a different platform, there’s never been a better Apple device to buy. The iPhone 4S is an astoundingly good phone.

TIMN/The Verge also has the best video review for those with low patience, it’s just shy of 3 minutes and covers the essentials:

SlashGear goes in depth with the 4S, but also covers tons of iOS 5 features. They praise maintaining the iPhone 4 body and focusing on the internals instead:

Wisely resisting the urge to change design for the sake of change, Apple has focused its attention where it will count the most: creating a longer-lasting smartphone that takes better photos, runs apps more smoothly and helps people efficiently manage their mobile lives whether they’re within cable’s reach of their home or office or otherwise. Meanwhile, Siri proves that the company still has what it takes to deliver game-changing functionality.

There will undoubtedly be smartphones with faster processors, or more megapixels to their cameras, or high-speed 4G connectivity, or bigger, better resolution displays, but it’s difficult to imagine any of them competing with the joined-up ecosystem Apple now offers. Challenging the iPhone isn’t just about creating one single, better smartphone, but a portfolio of consistent products and services. The iPhone 4S may look the same as before, but it arguably represents just as much of a shift in the industry as the original iPhone ever did.

For those who don’t mind longer videos and who want a more in depth look at Siri, MacWorld delivers:

USAToday has a decent video review as well, humorously noting that the iPhone 4S does not go to the moon:

Don’t miss TechCrunch, New York Times, AllThingsD either.

The only problem after the release of iPhone 4S was upgrading to iOS 5, which was throwing the infamous error 3200. But once it got through, now it is working out like a piece of cake.

I was able to get an iPhone 4S on the first day that it came out! I haven’t put it down once since I got it. I was one of those crazy people who waited outside the Apple store, just so I could get my hands on one. I currently have the iPhone 3GS, and it is getting a bit slow. I am amazed at how fast my phone is! What is even greater is it can access the faster data speeds, and streaming and downloading is so much faster now. I love streaming movies and shows to my phone, and the app that I use to do this is the DISH Remote Access app. I love this app because it lets me stream live TV and recorded shows from my 922 SlingLoaded receiver to my phone anywhere I am! As a customer and employee of DISH Network, I have had the opportunity to use the app for a long time, and since using it on my 4S, I can honestly say that it will work wonders for other iPhone 4S users!

One of my biggest peeves about android is that it was designed for marketing. It looks like a better phone on paper but not in real life. For example, it usually has more megapixels in its camera than the latest iphone, so it has a better camera right? Most people would jump to the answer of “yes”. But guess what, the pictures it takes have washed out colors. It can’t handle dim light situations. The pictures are grainy and fuzzy, there are focus problems. But hey, it has more megapixels. Chalk up a win for marketing. I know these things because I have been a droid owner for over 2 years, and have been turning various shades of green with envy over my friends who have iphones. My contract is up now, and I can’t wait to get an iphone4s. I hope the lines are not too long because the mall opens only at 6am and people won’t be able to go inside to camp overnight outside the Apple store.

So the phone is worse but because it is made by Apple it is better? Why are people trying to defend a company’s decisions?

Those kinds of people made me feel ashamed when I buy a Apple product.

You make yourself ashamed with your own comments. How is a phone worse when it’s specs all got better? I would love to hear this. And, no… A bigger screen does not make for a better phone. Just because some people are blind does not mean everyone needs to carry a phone the size of a book in their pocket.
