iOS 6 release date in Fall 2012

Apple officially announced iOS 6 at WWDC 2012 today with a “Fall” release date, such a release is likely to coincide with the announcement of the next generation iPhone.

Current hardware supported by iOS 6 includes the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 4th gen, iPad 2, and iPad 3, though noticeably absent are iPad 1 and iPod touch 3rd gen.

iOS 6 includes over 200 new features including a redesigned Maps app with turn-by-turn navigation, major updates to the Phone app, significant Siri updates including Siri for iPad 3, Facebook integration, FaceTime over cellular connections, Safari Offline Reading List with iCloud tab syncing with Macs running OS X Mountain Lion, Photo Stream sharing, Passbook app, Guided Access and Single-App mode, VIP Mail inbox, and much more.

iOS 6 betas are available today for developers, along with a new developer preview of OS X Mountain Lion for Macs. OS X Mountain Lion will be available in July.

not necerserally as ios 5 was released late last year its usually september time last year was a lot later due to hardware problems with the new iphone 4s …. im just woundering when the jailbreak for the ios 6 will be availible

  9. Kramer says:

  10. B.R. says:

Im not really worried about it until they have a jailbreak for it I do have an Ipad 1 and Im not giving it up for nothing but I do have Iphone 4 so I can still take part in it Im just wondering how it looks are there new apps on it, is there images to show what ios6 looks like?

@Foobar, the iPad 1 isn’t going to be a fast enough device to support the software. If you were to get it on there then you iPad would be slow as crap. Do you remember when ios4 came out and how bad that slowed down the iPhone 3G, well it would be the same situation.

    ppppoooooooooooo

  13. Foobar says:

Seriously, not for the iPad 1? Will there probably be some way to get it using jailbreak?

    • Omar says:

Even if you get it using Jailbreak, it will be very slow and lagging, its all about the hardware!

      • psxdogg says:

Hardware?.. Are you Serious? the iPhone 3GS went from 600mhz up to 800mhz on the iphone 4S. Not much of a upgrade there buddy.

Do your research. the iOS 6 will run just fine if you take out the bloatware

        • Hedache says:

Retard.. The 4s is NOT 800mhz.. Do your research dumbass !

          • Apple1 says:

I agree he should have done his research btw I think they should have introduced dictation for ipad2 at least thats just fair not Siri just dictations and I hav a question will the mobile safari have the same features as the desktop safari

        • Apple1 says:

Btw @psxdogg as ur name suggests I m pritty sure ur a ps Freek rather than a apple Freek so my suggestion to u is that I must place a point y iPad 1 cannot support it
          1 flash memory is less
2 as its d first gen there will be no space for the software itself

  16. Jeroen says:

I was hoping for the announcement of the new iPhone today. Unfortunately, I think I better wait until this fall.
