iOS 11 Beta 6 & macOS High Sierra Beta 6 Downloads Now Available
Apple has released the sixth developer beta versions of iOS 11, macOS High Sierra 10.13, tvOS 11, and watchOS 4. The new beta 6 builds are on the developer release cycle, while the public beta builds, which are a version number behind but otherwise are the same, are also available as public beta 5.
iPhone and iPad users who are eligible to receive iOS 11 beta 6 can find the latest update available from the Settings app > General > “Software Update”
Similarly, macOS High Sierra developer beta 6 can be downloaded from the Mac App Store Updates tab.
tvOS 11 and watchOS 4 beta 6 can be downloaded through their respect over-the-air mechanisms within the Apple TV Settings app and the paired iPhone via the Apple Watch Settings app.
For this beta testing season, the developer beta builds of Apple system software have been arriving prior to the public beta release cycle. Both are available to download and install now.
Any user can choose to enroll in the public beta testing program for iOS 11 or macOS High Sierra, but because of the buggy nature of beta system software it is generally only recommended or advanced users. With that said, installing the iOS 11 beta on iPad is a particularly interesting experience for savvy users who want to explore the new multitasking and iPad specific features of the new operating system.
Apple has planned to release the final versions of iOS 11, macOS High Sierra 10.13, tvOS 11, and watchOS 4 to the general public this fall.
The best thing about iOS 11 beta 6 is that the App Store icon is now a bundle of hot dogs stacked atop one another.
Apple designers must all be on summer vacation and have a couple interns running the show again….
“Let’s remove a few more ports and bleach the user interface a bit more while we’re at it!”
