iOS 13 Beta 2 Download Now Available
Apple has released iOS 13 beta 2 along with iPadOS 13 beta 2 for users enrolled in the developer beta testing programs for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
The latest iOS 13 beta downloads require a configuration profile to be installed before the update becomes available on whatever device is currently running iOS 13 beta or iPadOS 13 beta.
After the iOS 13 / iPadOS 13 beta profile is successfully installed on a compatible iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, users will then be able to download the beta 2 release through the Settings app “Software Update” section as usual.
If you do not see the iOS 13 beta 2 update available on the iPhone or iPad, it’s likely because you will need to download the configuration profile for iOS 13 to the device first. This is required before being able to install the second beta versions of iOS 13 or iPadOS 13, and presumably iOS 13 beta 3 and onward will arrive through the regular Software Update mechanism after that.
Each new beta build typically fixes various bugs found in prior beta releases, as well as refining features and adjusting various aspects of the operating system.
iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 have many new interesting features, including a new Dark Mode appearance, a redesigned Photos app with new capabilities, external storage device support for the Files app, Mouse and Trackpad support as an Accessibility feature, and more.
Users who have updated to iOS 13 / iPadOS 13 beta and regret it, or who would rather go back to the stable main release for any other reason, can downgrade from iOS 13 beta back to iOS 12 with these instructions if need be.
Currently the iOS 13 beta is in developer beta, but a public beta release is set to be available in July, and the final version of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 have a fall release date, which is somewhat vague but typically follows the general timeline of when new iPhones are released.
Separately, Apple has released macOS Catalina beta 2 for Mac beta testers, along with watchOS 6 beta 2 and tvOS 13 beta 2.
