iOS 12.4 Beta 5 & MacOS 10.14.6 Beta 3 Released for Testing
Apple has released iOS 12.4 beta 5 and macOS Mojave 10.14.6 beta 3 for users who are beta testing the current generation of system software releases.
These betas are separate from the ongoing beta programs for iOS 13, iPadOS 13, and MacOS Catalina. The public beta of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 and public beta of MacOS Catalina became available to download today as well, however.
No major new features are expected in either iOS 12.4 or MacOS Mojave 10.14.6, though iOS 12.4 may include support for the upcoming Apple Card credit card. Instead it is likely that the software updates will focus on bug fixes and refinements to the operating systems, and will likely include security updates as well.
iPhone and iPad beta testers can find iOS 12.4 beta 5 available to download now from the Software Update section of the Settings app.
MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 beta 3 can be downloaded from the Softtware Update control panel in System Preferences.
Always backup a Mac or iOS device before installing any system software, but particularly so for beta releases.
Apple has said that Apple Card is coming in summer of 2019. Assuming iOS 12.4 does include support for Apple Card, the credit card that Apple is releasing in partnership with Goldman Sachs, it is likely that iOS 12.4 will be necessary to install on an iPhone before the card will work. The video below from Apple shows off Apple Card features.
