Beta 5 of MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 Released for Testing
Apple has released the fifth beta version of MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 to users enrolled in the Mojave beta testing program.
No major new features are expected for macOS Mojave 10.14.6, suggesting the update will likely focus on bug fixes and security enhancements.
Users who are beta testing MacOS Mojave releases can find macOS 10.14.6 beta 5 available to download now from the Software Update system preference panel.
Apple usually goes through a variety of beta builds before issuing a final version of system software to the general public. It’s probable that MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 will debut at the same time as iOS 12.4, which is currently versioned as beta 6.
It’s fairly likely that macOS 10.14.6 will be the last release version under MacOS Mojave, aside from minor software updates, as Apple is actively working on the next major version of macOS system software, known as MacOS Catalina 10.15.
Note that if you’re currently beta testing MacOS Mojave then you will not get beta versions of MacOS Catalina, and vice versa.
Anyone can apply to participate in the public beta testing programs for macOS (and iOS and ipadOS for that matter), but because of the buggy nature of system software it is generally only advisable for advanced users.
