Apple has released new beta versions of iOS 13.6, iPadOS 13.6, and MacOS Catalina 10.15.6 to users who are enrolled in the beta testing programs for Apple system software.

Presumably the focus of these betas is continued bug fixes and refinements. No major new features are expected in the beta builds, though there are indicators that audio support may be coming to the News app.

Users enrolled in either of the eligible beta programs can find the latest beta builds available to download now, both as a developer beta and public beta builds.

iOS 13.6 beta 2 and ipaOS 13.6 beta 2 are both available now from the Settings app Software Update section on an eligible device.

MacOS 10.15.6 Catalina beta 2 is available fro the Software Update section of the System Preferences in MacOS.

Apple usually goes through multiple beta releases before unveiling a final version to the public, suggesting we’re still a ways out before the final release of iOS 13.6, iPadOS 13.6 and MacOS Catalina 10.15.6 is available to everyone.

Interestingly, iOS 13.6 and iPadOS 13.6 were initially labeled as iOS 13.5.5 and iPadOS 13.5.5. It’s unclear why the version changed with the new release, but perhaps it indicates the new build will be more comprehensive than a simple bug fix release as is often the case with the x.x.x point releases.

Currently the most recently available final builds of system software that are available to the general public are iOS 13.5.1 and iPadOS 13.5.1 for iPhone and iPad and MacOS Catalina 10.15.5 supplemental update for Mac.

The public beta is beta.apple.com which all you have to do is register under your Apple ID to try it out. Remember to backup your current release because going back requires a clean install. If your inquiring about the internal Appleseed beta testing which does require a invite from Apple to join. These beta’s are some of the earliest beta releases and not recommended for a daily device. I tested in this program for years and had a Macbook dedicated to this beta channel.
