How to Add & Save Credit Cards to Safari Autofill on Mac

Manually adding your credit card details to Safari is a pretty simple and straightforward procedure on macOS systems. Just follow the steps below to get started.

  1. Open “Safari” on your Mac from the Dock, Applications folder, Spotlight, or Launchpad.

  2. Head over to Safari’s settings by clicking on “Safari” in the menu bar and choosing “Preferences” from the dropdown menu.

  3. This will open a new settings window on your screen. Click on the “AutoFill” tab as shown below.

  4. Next, click on “Edit” located next to the “Credit cards” option to proceed further.

  5. You’ll need to enter your Mac’s user password to access the next page as your credit card data is stored securely. Type in your password and click on “Unlock”.

  6. In this page, you’ll be able to see all your stored credit cards if you have any. To add a new card, click on “Add”.

  7. Now, type in your card number, cardholder name, expiry date and then click on “Done” to save the credit card.

If you followed along, you have successfully added your credit card to Safari AutoFill. You can repeat the process to add more cards if you’d like to.

Your credit card will now show up in the list of saved credit cards. When you try to make a payment online, you’ll have the option to use this AutoFill information with just a simple click.

Thanks to this handy feature, you don’t have to remember your credit card number and expiry date anymore. It eliminates the need to constantly open your wallet, just to find that one card you want to shop with. You will usually still need to know the three digit security code on the back of a card however, though that’s not always the case.

By default, when you enter billing details such as your credit card information in Safari for the first time, you’ll be prompted to save this data for later use.     Unfortunately, Safari has an issue. Despite the fact that the card details have been input into the Autofill, when I get to the actual payment, it won’t fill anything (it’s as if there is no data within the Autofill). As such, I am forced to use Chrome Browser to do this. Pity.

      When reaching the Saved Credit Cards “Autofill” tab under Safari, simply click on the desired card, and then click below on the “Remove” button.
