How to Add Chrome Bookmarks to Mac Dock

Do you use Google Chrome as the default browser on your Mac? In that case, you may have several bookmarks to access certain webpages quickly. But, what if we told you there’s a faster and easier way to access your Chrome bookmarks, and you can add them directly to your Dock for quick launching?

Similar to how you can add Safari website shortcuts to the Mac Dock for quick access, you can do the same with Google Chrome bookmarks too. It seems that not many Mac users are aware of this feature though, but it’s similar to how you can add web pages from Safari to the home screen of an iPhone or iPad. Adding bookmarks to the Dock makes it a lot easier to get to a specific web page without having to open the browser first and then choosing your desired bookmark from the bookmarks bar.

How to Add Website Bookmarks from Chrome to the Dock in MacOS

Adding your Chrome bookmarks to the Dock is a fairly simple and straightforward procedure in macOS, here’s all you need to do:

  1. Launch Google Chrome and head over to a website if you haven’t bookmarked anything already (for example, https://osxdaily.com). Click on the star icon on the right side of the address bar to quickly add a bookmark.

  4. Now, you’ll find your bookmark or webpage in the Dock with a default globe icon as shown here.

There you go, you’ve added a Chrome bookmark to the Mac Dock.

It’s worth noting that you can only successfully drag and drop your bookmarks on the right side of the Dock, next to the Trash. So, if you were attempting to keep it right next to your favorite apps, you’re out of luck. This is because only the right-side can accept files, folders, and URL links. The left side of the Dock is strictly for apps, at least for now.

This is obviously for Chrome, but many Mac users rely on Safari to browse the web, and you’ll be pleased to know that you can add Safari bookmarks and webpages to your Mac’s Dock in an identical way. You can follow the above steps to add multiple websites to the Dock for quick and easy access too, if desired.

Do you use an iPhone or iPad as your primary mobile device? In that case, you may be interested in learning how you can add Safari web pages to the home screen of your iPhone or iPad. If you’re a Chrome user, there’s a workaround to add web pages to the home screen using Shortcuts app to an iOS or iPadOS homescreen too.

This is useful for one or 2 sites, but having a generic globe icon (especially a round one) isn’t all that quick when you have to hover over it to see what it is. If you want a few web links on your dock, its easier to make a folder, that way you can chose a grid or list view and actually see them all at a glance.
