Fix Zoom Error Code 1132, 5003, 3160 Connection Problems

Zoom is the popular virtual meeting platform used widely by many companies, institutions, schools, providers, groups, and friends, and while Zoom meetings usually work great, occasionally some Zoom users will have a failure to connect to a meeting, and Zoom will show error codes when either attempting to join a meeting, or to login to their Zoom account.

If you’re seeing Zoom error code 1132, error code 5003, error 3160, error 1001, or similar Zoom connection errors when joining a Zoom meeting or signing into your Zoom account, read along for troubleshooting methods to resolve the problem.

Troubleshooting Zoom Connection Error Code 1132 / 5003 / 3160, etc

If you can’t join a Zoom meeting due to connection errors or error 1132, error 5003, error 3160, etc go through the steps below to resolve the problem.

1: Confirm Active Internet Connection

The first thing you should do is confirm you have an active internet connection on the device attempting to connect to Zoom.

Go to or a speed test website on the device and check to make sure things are working as expected.

2: Update the Zoom App

Check for available updates to Zoom and install them if they are available.

You can check for Zoom updates in the app directly.

Note that sometimes Zoom for Mac wont update, which you can fix by reinstalling the Zoom client.

3: Restart the Computer / Device

If it’s a Mac or PC having the Zoom 1132 error, try restarting the computer.

If the device is a tablet or phone, restart the phone or tablet by turning it off and back on again.

4: Reinstall the Zoom App

Another troubleshooting step is to reinstall the Zoom app.

Do this by getting Zoom from and running the installer again.

5: Temporarily Disable Antivirus / Firewalls

Some antivirus software and firewall software may block Zoom connections, and cause a variety of Zoom errors like 5003, 1132, 1001, etc.

Turning off your antivirus or firewall software may resolve that problem.

6: Workaround – Use Zoom from Another Device

If you can’t get passed Zoom 1132, 5003, etc error on your computer or device, but have an urgent meeting to attend, try a workaround like using another device, or a web browser.

Zoom is available on all platforms including Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone, and iPad, so no matter what device you have you can find a native Zoom client. For example, if you’re hitting the Zoom 1132 error and can’t connect on a PC, try joining the Zoom meeting from a Mac, or joining from an iPhone or iPad, or an Android phone.

7: Workaround 2 – Use Zoom from the Web

You can join Zoom meetings from the web, loading the Zoom meeting into any modern web browser on any device, instead of using the Zoom app.

You can do this by opening the Zoom link in a web browser and clicking the “join from your browser” link to load the Zoom meeting directly in the browser itself.

    That was the absolute most pathetic solution to combat the 1132 error.

    I am trying to help a friend with an IPad that will not connect to Zoom. I have tried all of the suggested fixes to no avail. The error 1132 prevents any use of Zoom whether using the app or directly through the browser. I am able to access the account on a Windows 10 laptop so the account itself is working.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.
