What is the Background Music in the iPhone 4S Commercials?

iPhone 4S

Apple has aired several iPhone 4S commercials, a few focus on Siri, while others center on iCloud or the new camera.

Each iPhone 4s ad shares the same background music, but you might be wondering, what’s the catchy tunes name?

The answer: the iPhone 4s commercial song is Orchestral – “Goldengrove v2” by Keith Kenniff, an American composer. The entire song is about 1:30 long, making it short but sweet, perfect for a commercial setting.

Interestingly, the song Orchestral – “Goldengrove v2” doesn’t appear to be available for purchase on iTunes, but you can listen to it in the SoundCloud embed below, with the YouTube embed below, or directly on the artists Soundcloud page here.

If you want to, you can play the song in the following Soundcloud embeds below:

The song is instrumental, contrasting the poppy sound of the song played in the new iPod touch ad or The Beatles classic heard in the recent “Cover” commercial.

If Soundcloud isn’t your prefered listening platform, the soundtrack to the iPhone 4S commercial is also posted to YouTube, embedded below for easy viewing:

Apple seems to have a knack for picking catchy music for their commercials, and this is no exception.

Thanks for sending this in Stuart

This advert horrifies me, exactly because of the music. It’s an almost EXACT rip-off of part of the Truman Show soundtrack, and I find it amazingly ironic that music from a film about a man whose life is completely faked by entertainment corporations is being taken off to advertise technology that encourages people to live their whole lives through the filter of a little screen – chillingly ironic.

Reading the comments on Soundcloud I am not surprised nobody can find it on Itunes: it’s a Yann-Tiersenified version of a Philippe Glass piece made for The Truman Show.

It’s a beautiful arrangement though and works great in the ad.

Keith Kennif also records under the name Helios. Check out “Eingya”, a sumptuous album of evocative musical landscapes.
