iOS 13 Beta and iPadOS Beta

Apple has released the first public beta of iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1, matching the iPadOS 13.1 and iOS 13.1 beta 1 build released the day prior.

Beta 1 of iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 include a handful of features that were removed from earlier iOS 13 and ipadOS 13 betas, most notably enhanced automation with Shortcuts. The testing of beta versions of iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 may suggest that iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 have been finalized.

iPhone and iPad users who are using the public beta of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 will find iOS 13.1 public beta 1 and iPadOS 13.1 public beta 1 available to download now as well. Actively enrolled devices can find the latest update available in the “Settings” app Software Update section.

Any interested user can also choose to beta test iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 as well by enrolling in the public beta testing program.

If that compels you, you can learn how to install iPadOS 13 public beta here and how to install iOS 13 public beta on iPhone or iPod touch here.

Beta system software is less reliable than final builds and is therefore only recommended for advanced users, and preferably on secondary hardware.

iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 include many new refinements including updates to the Photos app, Reminders app, Notes app, performance improvements, a new Dark Mode option, new Emoji icons, new Animoji and Memoji features, and much more.

While no exact release date is known, Apple has stated that MacOS Catalina, iOS 13, and iPadOS 13, watchOS 6, and tvOS 13 will be released this fall.
