Mac OS X 10.4.10 update has been released today, covering a series of security and bug fixes, adding a few additional features, and including some other improvements.

Nothing too amazing is in the update in terms of features (especially when compared to what we’ll see in Leopard), but it is still worth downloading, so be sure to get it.

Downloaded the update from Software Updates, and when it rebooted, it dropped me into the console window. Finder works if you launch it manually as root, but not otherwise. After a morning of grepping the web, there are few reports of this update being buggy, BUT THEY ARE THERE. Apple doesn’t seem to care — 20 minutes on the phone with a tech got me no where — just like Tesi.

AVOID the 10.4.10 UPDATE AT ALL COSTS.

Has any persons downloaded the last update to 10.4.10 & then with “external speakers” ( I think this is where it is coming from) hear a “pop” or “cracking sound”?I called tech support as this has never happened before, and it is not constant, but it is worrisome. I have a new Imac & it was going great until the last “update”. I have seen blogs with others complaining of the same thing. Just wanted to see if there were any solutions yet.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS UPDATE! My PowerBook G4 no longer starts after I did. What can I do? HELP! Everything was fine before….

Tesi, you’ll probably have to reformat and reinstall, its the only sure fire way to fix anything really.

Let the update do its thing, even if it seems like its stuck or frozen on reboot and takes 5 minutes, let it do its thing.

My sweet son has spent the entire day trying to repair his system after downloading this update.
His macbook became inoperable, applecare told him to archive and re-install, and now that he’s done that and waited through the re-updating of all sorts of programs, he finds that his dock has disappeared and Firefox won’t work.

    AAAARRRGHHHH!!

Any ideas about how to help him?
Any ideas about why this is happening?

In the meantime, I’m not permitting this update to download. I can’t afford to spend a whole day recovering my system from whatever wierd glitch this is.
