iPad 2 + Video Mirroring = Game Console
If you plan on getting the iPad 2 (if you can find one in stock) and you’re a gamer, don’t forget to grab the video mirroring cable. But don’t take my word for it, check out this video that shows the huge potential of the iPad 2 to be a game console. Combining the Digital AV Adapter with iPad 2’s video mirroring capabilities outputted to an HDTV gives you a very playable gaming rig.
This video is from YouTube’s TouchArcade, it’s pretty long at about 16 minutes but gives a great overview of the potential here. MacGasm found the video, and they rightly point out that the only thing to make this cooler would be exporting games to an AppleTV wirelessly with AirPort. Until then, spending the $39 on the video cable is the way to go.
[…] some releases over the next year that are simply going to blow us away. And don’t forget that using iPad 2 video mirroring with a TV makes it a game console, and you can even use your iPhone or iPod touch as a controller for some […]
this was the first thing I thought of when I saw the HDMI cable in the keynote
I agree with Vogel, this will be hard to use because you’ll be watching the iPad screen to make sure you’re pressing the proper virtual buttons. This is why a real controller is so important, you can feel buttons.
Now, if you could use this with a bluetooth controller, that would be amazing.
Give some time to the jailbreak community =)
without external controller this is totally useless – you’ll be look at iPad rather a TV screen
