Amazing iPad paintings show off iPad as a creation tool

Apr 11, 2011 - 1 Comment

When I first saw these iPad paintings from UK artist Kyle Lambert, I found it hard to believe they were created entirely on an iPad using the Brushes app (App Store link) and just a finger as the input method. It’s pretty crazy to watch these paintings come together, here’s a video showing the creation of the above Toy Story 3 image:

He’s also done a bunch of photo-realistic celebrity portraits:

And even comic book style drawings and paintings:

Kyle has a ton of videos on YouTube showing his iPad painting techniques, here’s one demonstrating the creation of a portrait:

You can check out much more at Kyle Lamberts gallery and YouTube videos. I haven’t seen a better example of the iPad used as an artistic utility, his work could easily be featured in an iPad commercial.

If you’re feeling inspired, you can grab Brushes ā€“ iPad Edition for $7.99 from the iTunes App Store, and then all you need is an iPad and artistic talent.

That is some impressive work. The videos are great, I always wondered how digital art like this was made.
