iOS 5 Video Shows iCloud Restore in Action

Jun 26, 2011 - 4 Comments

iDB, the same guys who brought us the iOS 5 wireless syncing video, are now showing off another hot feature in iOS 5: restoring iOS backups directly from iCloud.

The video shows how smooth the process is.

From a blank iOS device, you just login to iCloud, select the backup to restore, and then all your apps and settings are quickly downloaded to the iPod touch (or iPhone or iPad) all from the iCloud service.

Is this feature awesome or what?

Currently iOS 5 remains in beta which limits these features to registered developers, but iOS 5 will be released this fall to mere mortals.

We can’t wait.

Too Bad they don’t make a 5 GB iPhone or iPad. You can’t backup an iPhone from iCloud if you fill it with important info. You can’t back up an iPad Period. The storage allowed on iCloud should match the size of the device you purchased. You paid a premium for it, it should be worth at least that much. Space is cheap. So is Apple’s attitude about it.

I think you need to read up how iCloud works before moaning about not having enough space.

Apple have said apps, podcasts, etc don’t contribute to your usage.

Great feature can’t wait for 5.0

This needs to be refined, it is too confusing for the average iPhone user. Lots of potential though, so don’t judge on a beta :)
